I arrived early in the AM after a ten hour flight and moved into a student apartment. Three people have been living there since the beginning of last semester; one American guy, one American girl, and one Israeli guy. The apartment is an established home with everything from plants and wall decor to a fridge with like 12 tubs of hummus. The Student Village is a 15-20 minute walk from campus, depending on your destination, and on a hill called Mt. Scopus which has many wonderful views of Jerusalem. During the war after Israel was declared a State in 1948 the Jordanians and Israelis fought over the land in Jerusalem - the land I live on was once claimed by Jordan. Many famous people have invested in this institution and spent time here - huge sums were donated by Barbara Streisand and Frank Sinatra, and the first class taught here was taught by Albert Einstein (physics). It's a well-established university with an fascinating history which I'm sure I'll learn much more about in the days to come. The campus is beautiful. I have very few pictures so far but I'll post a few of what I have.
I have been learning the city bus system alone and with friends - its very good and can get me anywhere. Today some friends and I will be walking to the kotel for havdallah, which I'm looking forward to very much. Tomorrow I start language school which is very necessary because I've found that I'm very embarrassed with my Hebrew. I will be working very hard on it.
