When Emily and I arrived in town we dropped my 125 lbs of luggage off at her apartment we made our way to the neighborhood Whole Foods to meet our dad. You've never really loved Whole Foods until you've experienced this one (corner of Houston and Christie). Among other highlights and new experiences of the night was the hotel where everything was sleek and silver and the elevators with purple lighting (spaceship?), Mexican Radio (also had interesting lighting), and the Off-Broadway musical we saw. The Marvelous Wonderettes is about four girls who are performing 50's hits at their high school prom and then return ten years later for their reunion. At one point in the show the girls came into the audience (very small, around 250 people) to collect the "votes" for Prom Queen. The mean character was collecting the ballots and then crumpling those that selected her opponents. Another character approached Emily and accused her loudly of sabotaging the vote. She continued to berate her to the amusement of me and the rest of the audience and then whined, "She doesn't even go here!" I enjoyed the entire show but that truly was the best moment.
While my dad was still in town the three of us visited the brand new annex of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame which featured an exhibit on the Clash. I also got to see my half-aunt M.C. who lives in the city, go hang out at the New York Public Library, and see the Israeli film "Waltz with Bashir". Tomorrow I catch an early shuttle to Newark and then spend a long time wasting time at the airport because of my over prepared-ness.

Umm, although I have been to New York countless times I enjoy taking really cheesy tourist pics. Cuz I'm an asshole like that :-) Oh, and one of my favorite things to do (besides seeing shows!!!!!!! of course) is to walk around time square at night time. It's an xmas tradition. Of course, it sucks they closed the Virgin Records store, ridiculous. I shall like to go with you to NY some day... I think we would have a blast!!!! Seriously, we would. Karen should go to. Let's plan this when you return :-) I love you!
please don't post the picture of dad and i... although i would like to see it privately, away from the public of the internet
the cats have been asking after you, i told them you went to wisconsin so as not to panic them
emily, funny that you would pick wisconsin of all places, seeing as two of my three roommates are from there. nicole you need to control that sailor mouth. :) but really this is a public and family friendly space.
