Nachon, at yoda'at.

Last weekend I went to Eilat which is a city on the Red Sea, very close to the borders of both Jordan and Egypt, in the most Southern part of the Negev Desert. It's a four and half hour bus ride from Jerusalem, which was beautiful for the first hour while it was still light outside. The desert is incredibly beautiful, and for some time you also drive along the Dead Sea, passing Masada and Ein Gedi. The ride was an adventure; a man was harassing some other passengers with a snake he had with him, and a woman starting throwing up on herself while she was asleep. Eilat is much warmer sinces its so far south, so the idea of the weekend was to go to the beach. We walked around on the boardwalk (very touristy, you really could be in any country in any touristy beach resort area), lay on the beach all day, swam in the sea, and had a shabbat dinner on the beach at night - two challahs, hummus, tahina, and matboocha...it was a good picnic. The hostel was quirky and colorful, and I got to sleep on the top bunk.

I got back and had one day of class, and then two days off for the Purim holiday. Everyone in Israel gets really crazy, dresses in costumes, and drinks. I helped make gift baskets full of sweets and took them and delivered them to people in a hospital in Jerusalem during the day, and that night went to a huge party with my roommates and friends. I dressed up as the ocean, as you can see in the pictures.+
Stephanie is in Israel on Birthright and hopefully tonight I'll see her, or at some point this weekend. She is still apart of a travel group which has a specific itinerary, but they will be in Jerusalem for three days so I'll manage to tag along somewhere.
